Has Season 2 dampened your enthusiasm for Season 3?

Anyone else not really anticipating Season 3 now due to the extremely lacklusture sophomore season? This time last year, after the excellent first season (with a little bit of a weak finale), I was eagerly anticipating the second season. This time around, "Heroes" is barely registering on my radar of shows to watch out and, from speaking with others, I'm not alone. I'm far more interested in seeing some new shows ("Fringe") or the return of others.

So are you still brimming with enthusiasm or are you also cautious and not too hopeful as you once were?

I feel the same in a way. On the one hand I did find last season really disappointing and in fact the early part of Season 2 dampened my enthusiasm for the rest of it. However on the other hand Heroes is one of the first of the returning US shows that I like so I am excited about it returning in that sense.

I did something after watching the first few episodes of Season 2 that I never would have believed that I would do, if you had told me: I stopped watching.

Dampened yes. Tis kinda the norm with new shows that start with a bang. Difficult to consistently deliver. I'm still looking forward to new season.

I beg to differ. Quite enjoyed Season 2 and thought the build up to the season finale was brilliant with Sylar retaining his powers. Sylar.....

No, I am actually looking forward to it. I did think S2 was a huge let down after the brilliant first season, but I have seen interviews with Tim Kring (the show's creator) and he has admitted that they realised they nearly threw the whole thing away so have gone back to the winning formula of S1. Here's hoping!

    I re-watched season 2 just last week.

I just fast forwarded the bits with
    Monica & Mika
    Hiro in old Japan
    Maya & bro
    West & Claire
    Peter in Ireland
HRG talking about 'Protecting my family'
    Matt & Molly

so I pretty much just watched Elle ;)

If anything the writers knew they had less to work with in season 2, due to the writer's strike, so they will be even more dedicated to making season 3 the best ever.

I for one am thoroughly looking forward to watching season 3 and have begun re-watching season 1 on HD-DVD in anticipation.

I totally agree with you, I really enjoyed season 2, even though the writers strike affected it somewhat. I'm really looking forward to season 3, hopefully allowing the writers to tell the story at the right pace.

Have to say the end of Season 2 made up for it and I'm really looking forward to Season 3, every show has its ups and downs...look at Battlestar Galactica in fairness

Heh, I see that "Heroes" won the uncoveted "Least Improved Show" category on TelevisionWithoutPity. Maya won the "Most Unwelcome New Character" and also the award for "Character Most in Ned of Killing Off" categories :)

I discovered Season 1 late and enjoyed it but Season 2 lost me halfway through and I am really not bothered that it has gone on to another season. I agree that shows have ups and downs but the bad writing and a lot of dreadful story lines completely put me off and I think I'll be looking at other stuff.

I may just have to pull out the awl media and run a Heroes marathon here in a minute to get myself jazzed up - cos right now im just not feeling it. season 2 definitely did something to me.

I liked season 2, so no, it has not.

I stopped watching Season 2 after 3 episodes. I didn't see myself ever going back to it. Last week I sat through a marathon of Season 1 and decided to give Season 2 a go, I was surprised that I actually liked it.

I watched the first two episodes of season 3 last night and I can see the same thing happening. There are too many characters and sub-plots in the show to fit in 40 minutes and then wait a week for the next bit. If I watch 2-3 episodes then I get a feel for the stories but otherwise it wouldn't bother me if I didn't see it again.

id agree with that sentiment. when i found heroes for the first time I managed to get the first half of Volume 1 in one solid go, with only 2 weeks before the second half started back up. man those were the days. you really do assimilate the story much better by watching 2 or 3 at a time, and the whole thing over the course of a week.

Absolutely. I've decided that this year I'll watch it at the BBC pace, I just couldn't be bothered asking my cousins to send it to me faster. Of course it helps that the BBC are showing it fairly quickly. I've only seen the 1st ep of season 3 so far. I thought it was really lame and wasn't in the mood to watch the 2nd ep on BBC3.

And my god hasn't Captain Sheridan gotten old. I used to quite fancy him when I was 17.:o

In fact the only thing I liked about the 1st episode was seeing his name appear in the credits.

Bruce Boxleitner, he was Captain Sheridan in Babylon 5.

And is now Senator Robert Malden, the guy with Tracy/Nikki in the 1st ep.

I watched maybe two episodes of Season Two and stopped giving a toss but there was a lot of stuff going on at the time. Right now I've nothing to do but sit on my hands so I'm going to watch the whole of season two straight through. You guys aren't making me too enthusiastic, I mean, does S2 pick up at any point? It sounds terrible. Really painfully terrible.

Season 2 is a slower build than Season 1 but is definitely worth it when you get to see how the story all fits together. I enjoyed it, maybe not as much as Season 1, but I've watched it about 3 or 4 times now so there must be something good about it. ;)

Ah ya, I'll give it a shot. Season 3 sounds half interesting and I can't wade into it with a full season missing inbetween!

Ah well, I finally quit on 'Heroes' about 2 or 3 episodes ago!

I was kidding myself by watching it.. and expecting anything inventive.

    Anyone else quit on it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,199 ✭✭✭Shryke

I'm still watching. I watch F all television anymore so it's not like I'm wasting a lot of time with this stuff. I can see myself loosing all interest but just not yet. I'll wait to see how things play out with my favorite characters. The last few episodes have been alright though. The Season is actually picking up a bit of momentum. It might be worth blasting through the last few shows left..

I'm still enjoying it, but I have to go along with the sentiment that it's far better to watch them all in a row. I find it's a bit hard to watch them on the box and waiting a week, as so much is happening at the moment, it's kinda hard to keep track of it all.

Not yet, but I really want to. Something just keeps drawing me back. The 1st series was so good, I can't quite let go just yet.:(

It's the same as BSG, except that's harder as it had 2 and a half great series.
