My friend is a respondant in a Personal Injury Motor Accident claim. Is he entitled to know how much the injured party is looking for? I can't say much else except that the injuries are inconsistant with the "grazing collision" that occured.

I presume your friend is insured, in which case his insurers will handle the claim on his behalf. Just to clarify though, the claimant doesn't look for a certain amount rather they complete the claim form and submit medical report(s) along with receipts, etc for out of pocket expenses and any loss of earnings (specials). PIAB will usually require the claimant to attend an independent medical expert who will then furnish their report to PIAB. When all this has been completed PIAB will assess the claim based on the Book of Quantum and any special damages. At which point both parties will be informed of PIAB's assessment.

    Thanks for that information.
