    Hi All,
I don't normally come on this forum but I thought it would be a good place to throw out an invite. A couple of the more elite female sprinters are planning on being based in Dublin this winter and need some guys to train with. Obviously the guys need to be reasonably fit but not very serious athletes. If anybody is out there that just enjoys the winter slog and fancies jumping in evening running sessions to get fit and help pull the girls along that would be great. The girls train hard but are good fun. The training sessions would be a great chance for some fit guys who have a big interest in athletics to train with some elite athletes and help them out. Stop typing and start running guys!!!!
I would really appreciate some responses if interested.
    Cheers!!!!

    Some questions:
    • How are fast are you?
    • Do you have a coach?
    • Why you coming to Dublin?
    • What event you do?

Sent you a PM but and I'll be your huckleberry if interested but I won't waste my time. You sound like you must be pretty good (which is a third of the battle) but if you feel you need to train with athletes (even if male) who are not serious athletes it doesn't sound like a good approach to pushing the envelope to me. I can think of a few women who can put it up to you in Dublin and a few coaches too if you really want it. You have gotten me interested (unless you are a windup, in which case when I find out who you are I will give you a belt with a med ball across the head:D - I can think of a few potential windup merchants as is!).

Girls are short sprinters. Which means reps will be mainly 150-200m. There is a complete coaching set up. The reason for boys is that a fit guy can help pace out interval sessions fairly easy for girls who are running 11.5 ish standard. Also a guy who is not that serious about his own athletics would be happy to come along and jump in to help the girls out. Rather than coming and then wanting to do his own session. Make sense????

Cool. Makes sense but it could be hard to find a lad willing to make the sacrifice, usually I've seen it within training groups were elite women will work with a slower guy within the group. Our top two 400m girls have had male "rabbits" down through the years.

Thanks for the help! Hopefully some guys might be interested. It would be good craic for guys who just enjoy athletics and want to get fit. Also the girls would really appreciate it. If you think of anyone I'd appreciate it!
    Thanks.

Training will be around 7 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Also an option to run on either Saturday or Sunday. Training will be in Santry. Group will start back in about two weeks.
    Cheers!!!

What do the gents have to do, just chase the women around the track?

If you don't have any joy here, you could try the Fitness Board as there may be some guys there who might want to do some speed work on a track a couple of nights a week.

Another option is maybe some juvenile male athletes who may be up to the standard and willing to jump in a couple of nights a week. I presume you won't need rabbits for all the sessions and just the longer tempo and speed endurance stuff. Would you be willing to let some younger guys join the group?

Also, maybe let people know their standard and also what they are aiming for, eg, are they trying to qualify for the World Champs in Berlin next year and ultimately London '12. If guys know what the girls are aiming for and what very high standard they are at they will be more willing to get involved. Also, they'll need to be fairly fast if they are to be help you as you're average bloke (even if fit) won't be able to hang it with girls running or wanting to run 11.5 and they could end up being more of a hindrance. Just a thought.
