Hi folks long time lurker occasional poster, I'm signed up for the Dublin city marathon and have been noticing over the last few weeks/months that my calf muscles twitch fairly noticeably, not painful mind you.
Anyway did a long run this afternoon 13 miles in 2hrs 13 mins and after my stretches, shower and sitting in half full cold bath (read about that here) my calves looking like a bag full of cats , now I googled 'twitching calves' and didn't really get any answers, even watched a youtube post of someone elses calves.
I'm a complete amateur when it comes to running, I'm doing the marathon for charity. Don't get me wrong I'm taking the training serious, following proper program, proper runners etc infact I started down this road a good six months ago. Diet mightn't be top notch but trying, am using provon revive after long runs < 8 miles and using energy gels during run.
So are my bag full of eels for calves something to worry about, read on-line about taking magnessium and some other frankly scary stuff about ... well ye know what the web is like.
Cheers guys and see ye on Oct 27th, will have to be the start mind you before I begin to fall behind.

    Hi,
I've had the strange twitching calves thingy before after long runs, not always, but occasionally. My physio told me that this was pretty normal and nothing to worry about. Happy running.
