Gola bags = Man bags in disguise

One particular 20-something wunderkind in a client's site has started to sport a Gola-bag into the office.

I wouldn't mind if he was carrying sporting equipment in it (after all, we Brothers have all had our skinny glory days togging out for the under 14's in the local inter-schools GAA before we discovered the joys of kebabs and cheap German lager), but this guy wears a suit and tie.

What he probably thinks is a statement of post-modernist irony appears to me to be just what it is - a man bag.

Duh. Of course they're manbags. :pac:

They're actually kind of cool. If you're into that kind of thing. :P

I agree with trout. A bag is a bag.

I disagree. A bag is an ostrich!

Thequestion is: what does he carry in it?

The only things that a man carries around are:

    Keys - house and car,
    Wallet,
    Phone,
    Cigs - if he smokes,
    Lighter - if he smokes.

    What else do you need?

    Kebabs & beer.

Yes, you need those, but you don't carry them around with you, except for the beer.
You buy the Kebabs from the Kebab shop with money from your wallet.

Beer you buy at the pub, or in the offie. Thankfully you do not need a bag for these, as, if you buy two cans at the offie, by the time you are finished them, you will be passing the next offie. :D

So, I still do not see the need for a man to carry a bag.

Man bags are just silly. If you have alot of stuff to carry then just get your woman to sew more pockets on your clothes...simple!

they can be handy to carry files, books or a laptop in as normal bags are your back so its easier to just swing the man bag round your front....
otherwise people think they look "cool"

Looks italian. Would suit someone with a scooter, or if they were holding the hand bag for their women.

Smashey only ever needs one bag and it is attached to me.

    No no no no no.
A manbag is a bag that, if it was to be carried by a woman, would be called a handbag. All the images posted so far are just regular bags, or satchels or whatever.

The urban dictionary defines a manbag as follows:

    1. manbag
A purse with a strap worn by a man, often carried by someone who is a metrosexual
Steve forgot his manbag with all his credit cards and personal belongings.

Basically a manbag is a bag that a man uses to carry the stuff that us regular men carry in our pockets: phone, wallet, walkman, ciggies, etc. They will presumably also have things like moisturiser and anal lube.

The other main difference is that a manbag has a short strap, like a handbag, so has to be either carried, or hung on the forearm.

Example: this Richard Gere is carrying a manbag.

Example 2: This is also a manbag...when carried over one shoulder

    that woould be my understanding.

The second picture of a bag look very similar to what I carry my laptop in, otherwise known as a courier bag. I see these as being perfectly acceptable.

i think the big difference would be a manbag is where you would put your wallet and mobile phone. Things I keep in my pocket.

Laptop bags are exempt as they have a purpose.

Man bags are stupa  only bag a man should be carrying is a plastic one with his lunch box in it..............and in the lunch should be 10 sanwiches filled with hazlet.

    Hazlet rules.

Agreed. But the only time record bag/messenger bag are acceptable is when you are a DJ or a messenger...
