I'm currently in negotiations with a trimmer in the UK regarding leather upholstery. He has done a set of seats for me already which I was more than happy with .He has various colours, two tone ,perforated and he even does embroidery ...The quality of the work is excellent..And he's cheaper than the equivalent in Ireland.
He will require an old cover for pattern as he doesnt hold onto them for obvious reasons, although he has some modern ones.

He's a friend of a friend....For that reason I wont be giving out that information....suffice to say I wont be ripping people off if thats your thinking..
Funny how Irish people are always suspicous of a good deal....Obviously I will make a few bob, but I will tell you that the covers that I got for an RX8 cost me 500 ,two tone with logos...same here 700 w/out logo..and that was a "cheap" quote....no one will be twisting your arm...;)
BTW, if anyone else is thinking as Mercmad......maybe i just wont bother.....:(

I wouldnt blame people for being a tad suspicious.
We take a seat cover off a car, give it to you, you send it to England, yer man comes back to you with a price, you bang on a few quid and tell us how much it will cost and at the end of it all we might not be happy with the job and we dont even know who we've paid for it or anything?

    .............relax my friend !

Your original post wasn't clear in that I didn't realise you were offering a service. I thought you were simply telling us of some work you had done to your car, hence I asked and left a friendly smiley.

    No big deal !

So could he do classic cars to original spec. ?

Is that genuine leather,or that semi leather that wears out?
Looks like he knows his stuff, the fit seems very good, though that astro logo doesnt look square with the rotary triangle in the headrest?Small detail maybe?

Well spotted, its the triangle thats a bit drunk, they can be moved handy enough.....:p
Yep its all real leather except for the back lower panel....thats another thing i forgot to mention, if he uses leather only on the main parts and leatherette on the backs etc. its cheaper...;)

Leatherette is grand for non wearing surfaces, but it lasts no battle on the bolsters,a friend bought "leather" seats for his skyline and they were knackered in no time.

Ditto, bought a fairly expensive "leather" steering wheel on fleabay ,but when i fitted the new leather cover (this guy made too) i realised the cover was vinyl........should have realised when there was no smell from it..

    Not Your Ornery Onager

Sids Not, your first post gave absolutely no indication that you were offering a service. The first thing I thought when I read it was "So?".

    Not your ornery onager

You're absolutely right.....well done..was it the "I'm in negotiations with" that drew you to that conclusion.....
Anyone who might be genuinely interested can P.M me and i'll keep them informed..
    Otherwise consider this thread "dis-interested"....;)

...........unless its the Mercedes "Tex" leatehr, which not only lasts longer than real leather, but seems to last longer than the rest of the car too !! :o
