Copied over from the UCD Feckers thread.

I did some work on the 1637 Charles I Letters Patent (I think that's them) for fun around two years ago and even, with Mr. Charles Larkin, got a student studying Classics to translate the Latin for us. Was quite fun, there's some very odd stuff. Basically I think I found that you aren't allowed bring animals or horses back in unless you're the Provost or Senior Fellows (which basically now means the Board of Trinity College which I was on at the time).

And yes, I'm the type of person who found that fun!

Well there is this one story about mary harney in the GMB on a snooker table with Shay, but best not to discuss it.

Ah, but of course. Following on from what I wrote in the "feckers!" thread - there's a legend (probably all lies) that if you can climb to the top of the campanille (the big bell tower in Front Square) you're guaranteed a first for the year. The catch? Once you get to the top, the Provost gets to shoot at you with a crossbow in an effort to knock you down. (I'd still totally take the risk)

I think the Climbing Club took over the Campanile a few years ago during Freshers' Week. Or so the stories go.

There's that one about how you can't walk under the Campanile or else you'll fail your exams.

They did it twice, and left a bowler hat on it each time. As they did it twice, it now has a classification of a climbing 'obstacle' for want of a better (and the correct) word.

Only the Knights of the Campanile may pass under the Campanile with impunity.

What's the story with the underground tunnels underneath the Trinity campus. Is that true and if so, has anyone here been in them?

Being a prospective first year, this kinda bothers me.
Who was this man?! From doing some internet snooping, he keeps getting mentioned everywhere.

    Just what is his legacy?

Ye apparently there's a wine cellar under front square with tunnels from the surrounding buildings. There are tunnels in UCD for sure. I was at the entrance to them a while back. You can get in if you are willing to break down a few doors.

Just that he'd be the late TCD mascot. Never laid eyes on him though, unfortunately.

You lose. First year here. xD

There is one cobble stone in Front Square that when removed in an anticlockwise fashion and then placed under the Campanile at 2:32 p.m will result in a book being written by Dan Brown about it.
