If you're drinking so much that you can't remember what happened and can't stop yourself from doing stupid stuff, then you should drink less or stop alltogether.

haven't used this, but it sounds like something that would be useful if it works:

    http://www.sharewareconnection.com/software-time-lock.htm

let's you block yourself from the computer at certain times. Also Full Tilt let you self-exclude yourself for defined periods of time - e.g. 12hrs, 24hrs, etc

obviously that might be just papering over the cracks of why you want to self-destroy your previous hard work after you've had a few too many beers

you have a drinking problem if you can't control yourself whatsoever after a few.

What and noone else works six days is it?

If you're getting into such a state that you can blow 1600 on a forgotten poker session then losing the money is the least of your worries.

Start saving now for the new liver.

Lock the power lead away when you go out for the night and leave the lappy on. The battery won't last 15 minutes when you get home then.

    And fold pre.

I have done similar in the past. I have never forgotten having done it but I have played when drunk seriously underrolled for the games that I have played. Like blowing a roll two tabling 400PLO when barely rolled for 50.

It happens, according to the other posters in this thread no one has slept with someone they regret when drunk, no one has woken up in the morning and wondered where the hell they were no one has woken up with the feeling that they have pissed their mates off the previous evening over nothing. **** that is actually far more dangerous than blowing a poker bankroll when you are playing recreationally.

Anyway get more discipline, if you are going out on the lash give the laptop to a mate or a neighbour you can trust, remember how much it sucks when you wake up in the morning knowing that the last night out cost you > €1000 and it didn't even involve coke and hookers and try and drink a little slower, go out later get home earlier whatever.

Well, if we look at your predicament benevolently, you made somebody out there slightly better off. You made somebody else happy, and that's not an easy thing to do.
Seriously though, curb the sauce if you're doing stupid things that you have no recollection of. I did.

Carry a condom in your wallet and you are less likely to blow your roll by sleeping with someone than busto stakes drunk poker

Ah not so, the chance of scoring a random bird is much less when you have a condom in your pocket. Similarly with rain and umbrellas etc

    Fair fooks Op imo.

If your like most sickos this is actually a thinly veiled brag post.

Everyone in Japan carries umbrellas all the time. It's like it's an extension of their dress code, only way to overcome the weather gods

This thread pops up about once a month. I don't know what the solution is. The idea of slogging it out over an online cash game when I'm drunk really doesn't appeal to me, so fortunately I've never had this problem.

I dont know many successful poker players that are also heavy drinkers. Few if any. Give up the bottle or quit poker. You cant have both. There is also the option of cutting down on your driking to a modest level but it doesnt sound like thats an option for you. Best of luck

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,013 ✭✭✭kincsem

Cash out after every session and convert the cash to beer.

FFS He drinks recreationally and plays poker recreationally he just needs to separate the two

Scotty Nguyn seems to do ok when pissed

    QFT

I think some people are being slightly over dramatic here. Has no-one else ever done anything they regret while out drinking??

It's certainly a bummer alright and I've done it quite a few times myself, (incl. one pretty savage night when I found myself playing Ansky HU at 25/50 ). Although I must say I always remember what I've done the next morning, for some reason I get complete blackouts about a complete night, but I can remember losing XXXX when I got home... There aren't many worse feelings, 2 or 3 months worth of grinding gone in a stupid night...

I can't tell you how to stop doing it but one tip would be to drink even more when you're out so that you won't be physically able to operate the Laptop, it's sure to help.. :pac:

This has happened to me also so the best thing is just dont even go near your laptop even though at the time you feel like you are the best player in the world - its as simple as that - tbh when you are wrecked you shouldnt really be thinking about poker anyways - stick on some porn and have a **** for god sake

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 458 ✭✭Pulsar Eagle

Drink more is definitely the right thing to do here imo, as ive done this(roll blowing) many time, hidding laptops, getting passwords changed, deleting the site from the computer dont work because a real degenerate will find a way around any obstacle especially if your in a city damm 24hour internet cafes like do the people workin in them late nights not know a totally wasted persom when they see one, obviously not total rant there but any way moral of the story very high content of drink and poker do not go.

Also, AFAIK "binge drinking" is defined as something ridiculous like 3 pints in a single sitting or something... WhoTF doesn't binge drink when they go out!!??!

How much would a lock down program be worth? Are there any such programs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,174 ✭✭✭Dearg81

Just give your laptop to someone you live with and tell them to hide/keep it for the night. You dont have to give up drinking to win at poker, just dont play when your drunk/hungover.

Its 10 units (five pints) in a sitting. Which is a ridic amount to consider binging.

Leave some porn open on the laptop before you go out....you'll never make it as far as the poker client!

Its weird for me my biggest winning sessions and majority of my online winnings this year have been when i have had a few, although never in a state like OP who cannot remember the next morning. Looking at my stats when i have had a few my agression factor increases a lot, says a lot!!!

I'm the tamest drunk pokerplayer ever. I've never had a session when drunk where I moved up levels. I've also never done my brains drunk. I just play more loose passive lol
