My mate has asked me if i want to play a few tunes at his birthday in a few weeks, only thing is he uses CDJ's, ive never used them before, i use Technics 1210's and Serato Scratch, he said they do take a bit of getting used to,said you can play on decks for years but need to practice on these, i assume some people on here have CDJ's, so how long did it take you before you were comfortable playing them?

I might only ever play them once but i wanna play a good set so will make sure i try get in some practice.:)

    Any tips/advice appreciated.

Ive always used 1210's and dont have cd decks and never played on them up until a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was very straight forward using them. All you need to know is how to cue, and from then on its basically the same thing. (Assuming you dont want to use all the effects.) By the way they were cdj's i played on aswell.

Yeah, setting a cue point is about the hardest thing you'll have to deal with. If you're used to mixing with vinyl then everything else should be second nature.
You'd definitely be better off getting some practise in beforehand though.

I'd say you're better off leaving vinyl mode off completely and using the platter for minor corrections (presuming they're CDJ1000 or 800s?)

yep set it to cdj mode, not vinyl.its a piece of piss really.
i showed my mate a few months ago.once we went over how to cue he was fine
