Right then, I've played it all weekend and here's the scoop....

Got the game home and on the way, had a look at the manual.
It was full of screenshots of the ps3 version so that kinda put me on edge to begin with. Booted it up and went through the options: single player only, loads of play modes, lots of customisation (can design your own livelry and make your own team etc). The music was pretty good and presentation also; time to get racing.....

    oooer missus....what's this...

Just to put things into perspective, the night before I got it, I played Namcos R-Racing (Gamecube) to get me in the racing mood. When I started racing Ferrari Challenge, I was left wondering if I had my Wii settings on the lowest resolution as the graphics were worse than I imagined and not even near as good as R-Racing! My settings were right...I was running 480p widescreen through a componant cable....and this, this....travesty was what I had bought thinking it was at least going to be better looking than a Gamecube title. I always race from the ****pit view but I did notice that the graphics were slightly better in the outside-and-above car view. Even that was pretty pants though.

So why did I keep playing?

I'm a racer at heart and I'm not unused to tearing up tracks in hour-long GTR/2 (PC) sessions. The one redeeming feature of the game is the racing phsyics. It is pretty close (for a console game) to that of GTR (the benchmark for all racing games in my opinion). The racing AI isn't the best I've seen but there are moments where certain cars seem to have a vendetta against you and pull some Hamilton-like crazy blocking moves when you try an overtake. While the racing was enjoyable, those bloody graphics are always at the back of your mind.

All in all, it seems that this is possibly the laziest port of any game on the Wii.
From the ps3 screenshots in the manual, the "unbelievable graphics" press recommendation on the back of the box to the loading screen "take your race online" tips (I kid you not!), it seems that absolutely no effort was put into the Wii version which is a bloody shame 'cause the machine is crying out for a proper sim racer.

Until a proper one comes out, I'm left with squinting trying to figure out if that rectangle ahead is a car or piece of scenery.

If you don't mind godawful graphics, total lack of multiplayer and laughable porting mishaps, then this is for you...otherwise, avoid like the plague!

I was just playing this as well and though the graphics are terrible , i found the gameplay somewhat enjoyable.
Im not sure if its worth the money , but i did find it a bit of fun.

What are the screen shots at the back of the box like?
You could always bring it back if they are PS3 shots too.
