    Hi there,
just wondering if anyone had any insight into the timeframe of graduate programmes, in particular for the banks.

I'm looking at one for Ulster bank, which has a deadline of Feb 09 I believe.

Does that generally mean that successful applicants can expect to start only after this date, or would they be able to start before that?

    Cheers,

Grad programmes will normally start in September, however some companies will take on grads at other times of the year.

The job spec or company website will normally give some indication, but if not you can always call up and ask! If not, you'll at least have a question to ask them when they do come back to you about your application :)

    Cheers,

That one is aimed at people who are in their final year, as are most Grad Program recruitment drives.

I'm starting a grad programme in a bank soon, basically yeh, they start their recruitment drives around now and finish up between December to February (approximately, obviously depending on the bank) with the intention of you starting in September/October to gear the programme at final year students. Some banks are more flexible and can take grads on year round, depending on division and business needs - but this would be less likely in the current climate.

All you can really do is ask the grad recruitment departments in the various banks.
