i recently got a 18 track mixer and it has a firewire output cable on it ,so i was just wondering if anyone knew if i could get a adapter to plug into the USB port on my laptop and then connect a firewire cable to it or

my laptop has SD slots in the side of it and having never used these slots and being a bit of a novice at this PC thing ,can i plug a Firewire Card Bus Adapter into that slot or is that for something completely different and i've just made myself sound like a complete moron by asking.

If anyone could help me out with some info i'd be very grateful.
