I bought my Macbook in the USA so have a 2 pin plug. Does anyone know where to get an official UK plug for the 60W Magsafe power adapter? I bought one on Ebay only for it to trip all the power in my apartment (at the mains, not even at the fusebox). Sparks flew!! Was looking in the apple store and on dabs.ie etc but to no avail. I only need the 3 pin plug piece.
    cheers

I think you might have to get the whole unit... Link

Its the 2 pin plug in picture but will ship with 3 pin as I bought one myself recently.

you could just use a standard figure 8 cord and plug it straight into the power brick.

That's what I use. OP you need a fig 8 cable like this one.

And as babypink said just remove the 2pin adapter from the brick and plug in the fig 8 lead. You may have one around the house. A lot of radio, vhs, and some dvd players use figure 8 cables.

Is the UK plug the same as an Irish one?

Apple's Irish store offers power yokeys for €80 or so (ouch), but the picture looks like an American plug:

    but maybe that's just carelessness.

I use an American one, just plugged into an adaptor.

One way is to buy the world travel adaptor kit for around €40 but you get five bloody plugs you don't need, and the one you do, its such a waste.

What i'd recommend doing is buying the uk/irish charger for the ipod for €29 and taking the removable plug off that and sticking it on the macbook charger.

Worked for my american Macbook pro.

    Thanks all!

I'm using a USA adapter but it's quite cheap so don't trust it. I like the sounds of the Fig 8 cable. I'll check that out.

I have a couple of the plug adapters spare (just the plug bit, not the plug and cable) that I can give you if you want.

Just stick a 5 euro travel adaptor from argos on the end of your US plug. The macbook accepts voltage of 110-140, so dont worry about it going kaput.

That's what I've done on both my macbook and macmini.
