right i have a question for somebody better informed than myself...

my laptop went tits up, but the hard drive is in perfect working order... im quite sure.

anaway, so i removed the 2.5" SATA hard drive, now here lies my question, on that hard drive it was running vista 32bit ultimate, i had it password protected upon bootup

if i attach this hard drive to a enclosure, and connect it to another computer, will i be able to gain access to all my files, as i have lots on it that i cannot lose...

ideally when i stick the hard drive into an enclosure i would hope it will display all my files? or will the password thing make this impossible?

    cheers

The password may add a bit of headache (I assume it was encrypted with bitlocker), you could get another laptop/computer and remove the harddrive and install your current password protected one and boot into it that way.

bitlocker?? i just added the windows password protect inside of control panel in vista, so when you fire up the computer and it boots up, i had to enter the password for it to fully load into vista.

im awaiting the enclosure from dealextreme, but i had a feeling the windows password protect on bootup being on would cause a problem...

If its only the windows log in pasword .. you'll be fine.

Just stick it in the enclosure and you shoudnt have any problems.

Just confirming what Mr. Daz says, you'll have full access to all your data.
