Just about had it with this pack of fraudsters.

Is there any viable alternative to them? , and what are the downsides to those alternatives?

    Thanks

Depends on what part of the country you are in and if you can put up aerials/dishs

Near the border the UK Freeview service is an option, or the UK-FreeSat is an option for most of the country.

When/If Boxer-DTT come on-stream last next year that will an option.

If you want SkyOne/SkyMovies/SkySport, you need to subscribe to NTL or directly to Sky.

Your options are in no particular order:

    - Sky via satellite

    - Freesat via satellite

    - RTE 1, 2, TV3, TG4 via aerial (either analogue or digital DTT)

    - Smart Telecom SmartVision Plus service via IPTV and ADSL

    - If you live along the border, potentially British Freeview service via aerial

    - In 12c months time, you will be able to get more channels via aerial through the new commercial DTT service from Boxer.

You'd get most of the basic UK channels free on Satellite (the €9.99 only actually has 2 satellite pay tv channels, the rest are free on satellite).

Sky about 1100 channels, at least 1/2 are junk (includes all free channels and Irish TV)

FTA /Freesat free Satellite, no Irish TV, about 40 good TV and 20 decent radio out of 250+ TV and 70+ Radio.

Smart and Magnet are only viable really if you are on their fibre broadband and multiroom is a problem.

Watty. Sky has about half that and about 90 per cent are trash
