Who wants a war?

I'll tell you who, me. After viewing images from the recent Georgian conflict I think it is just about time for another epic scale war between genuine first world nations. I want full scale armor and artillery bombardments, chemical weapons, dead civilians, dead soldiers, dead everything. I want to see it played out before my eyes like some sort of soap opera each night on the news. I want images of national leaders in black suits and red ties pounding at mahogany desks as they send a thousand soldiers to their deaths without blinking, I want fighter jets strafing airfields, I want POW tortured, I want pepper red explosions to burst forth as if hell itself has shown its unbridled fury to the world, I want missiles launched into the night sky miles from those who will soon be lying torn and broken in the scorched rubble of their shattered home. I want to see a war.

Everyone always say they hate war and are against it but when there is a big war the round the clock news coverage show that many people find it entertaining. Remember the invasion of Iraq when people were glued to their tv screens watching it on the news.

This isn't the way new wars will be fought though, it'll be nuke them, then retaliation then we are all screwed. :pac:

Who will be told in an anxious voice to 'keep safe' by the studio news anchor even though the pleb in the flak jacket is probably 30 miles from where any real fighting is taking place.

I certainly agree. The fool saying he wants a war mightn't be so keen if it was happening on his own doorstep, and he had to witness his own family and friends being killed and injured, a harsh reality that's often filtered out of sanitised news reports that glorify war with their 'shock and awe' slogans and the like. Sky News are probably the biggest offenders of all in this regard.

Who said anything about being affected directly by the war, no, I just have a desire to view it much like a film or television series, only with higher stakes

So basically you want to be entertained by the misery and suffering of others? As has been said you want a war once you don't have to dirty your own hands.

War is an ugly business, and like I said it's not about the glorified bullsh1t that we see on Sky News. It's about ordinary people being killed and maimed left, right and centre. It's not just soldiers who die in a war.

I don't care about people being killed in this war I postulate, isn't there some saying about breaking eggs to make omelette's? I am not willing to make any personal sacrifice of any kind but that doesn't mean that I can't be entertained by the plight of others

In all fairness, it is true we are entertained by the war coverage by the media, remember when iraq began? I think I stayed up all night watching missles blow up building all around baghdad when it began...

but to actually will a war for your own entertainment is quite sick tbh. That said we probably dont need to will it to happen, the state of the world atm pretty much guarantee's more conflict by the end of this decade.

I'm all for it. People are getting killed the world over and no one gives a **** or at least no one with the power to stop it.
Maybe one massive World War whereby the survivors realise that we're all one race and finally sort their **** out.
Not different religions. Not different colours. Not different cultures.
    But one race.

And bring on more comical Ali's.

    simplesam has become serioussam......

fact is sam, it happens ALL the time. with a big world war, somebody will stand up for these people with force. war is as natural as anything else. you just have to get past moral issues first to see the benefits

    So what.
with a big world war, somebody will stand up for these people with force.
Somebody was standing up for them with force, not that it did them any good.
war is as natural as anything else. you just have to get past moral issues first to see the benefits
There is nothing natural about war, thats why soldiers need to be specially trained to kill people. One of the biggest problem facing generals in world war one was that many soldiers literally refused to shoot. It goes completely against the grain to kill your own species, except in certain circumstances.

Remember the invasion of Iraq when people were glued to their tv screens

    So what..
so death in a war only seems exceptionally bad because its circumstantial

Somebody was standing up for them with force, not that it did them any good..

war is natural, like it or not. its the basis of society, its part of culture, part of our world that has been here since the very beginning. greed is natural. violence is natural. 2+2=4

you may not agree with war, many people dont. but like it or not, its always been and always will be

Yes, I think it's that time again, when the big knobs sit around the table and decide how many millions of people need to get fried, so that they and the survivors can maintain their standard of living.

    tick tick tick tick tick..................................................

If they overdo it, then only Terry and the cockroaches will be left.

    That sentence makes no sense.

The army shelled a few mountain villages to the ground a few days later in retaliation, and that didn't do them any good either.

You have no idea what you are talking about, frankly. In any case, making statements along the lines of "war is entertainment" is trolling at best, staggering ignorance at worst.
