that would be a gamble ... tax dodging .. and more than likely get caught with duty ...

the apple store refurbished section do some nice offers from time to time ...

as a student you can avail of a discount as well I believe ...

If you want the newest most powerful model, your safest and best place is the online Apple store as they alone knows when the upped spec models come on sale. Buy your RAM from Crucial or Komplett etc and save yourself lots of €; buying online is not getting you any better model though you may and will find cheaper prices.

X1. As i did with my MacBook, upgraded to 4 GB Ram from Crucial.
You could have a look a Misco.ie, though I have never dealt with them personally.

The cheapest place, apart from the USA, is definitely:
    jigsaw24.com

    Amazing deals there.

I got my MBP from the states and saved about €500

Yep, ebay for some decent second-hand bargains. Just make sure to check feedback of the seller before you part with your cash. Enjoy. :)

A friend of mine went to a AV shop in Belfast 2 years ago to buy a plasma when they were hot on the market; he took his day of work, rented a large car to carry it home, planned out his route and stops, filled the tank, loaded up his credit card, had a few other stops to make, cleaned out the house and threw out the old telly in readiness for it all.

When he got up there, they had sold out of the model he wanted:D

He got on in Power City instead.

So your point is to ring them before you go up ? LOL

That and don't try kid yourself that it's always cheaper to go abroad to buy stuff. Fuel and sundries add to your price of these shopping trips though overall they can be a day out as well. While it's in my head, a friend of mine went on the HSS to Colwyn Bay to buy a hifi a few years back and still hasn't convinced me that it was cheaper that ordering it in!

Apple might be doing the "student buys macbook, gets a free ipod" deal again this year. I'd wait and see.
