Same for me, I posted in another thread that the overall responsiveness of web browsing has taken a nose dive. Previously speedtest had given me reasonble consistency between the various servers but now, like you, this is not the case with huge variations. I'm going to have to get on to their tech support and see whats up.

I have never got a reliable response from that site. I get results similar to yours yet when I down a test file from a Linux site it comes down at almost 25megs. Your ISP may be fine it may just be being reported in accurately.

Are you using a laptop and a wireless connection. Its not unusual for a laptop which is far enough away from the router or through a few walls to decrease the speed. Just a thought try doing a direct ethernet connection

    Download this file.

    Time how long it takes.

Search google with this string where xx is the time it takes.

    50MB / xx sec

Cheers folks for the input. On ethernet by the way for test purposes. Speed is definitely eratic, and for the most part, well short of the promised 20Mb.
