    Hi all,

I need to get advice and hopefully someone here might be able to help.

I am on hols at the moment in California and tomorrow heading to Vegas... (You can see what the question might be :D)

I am curious if it is possible to get married in Vegas on the spur of the moment (well a day in advance) and for it to be legal in Ireland??

I have heard conflicting opinons that I may need to apply for a certain document around 6 months in advance of getting married anywhere for any marriage to be legal..

Do I need this document or can a spur of the moment wedding be legal at home?

    Thanks in advance..

Yes weddings in Las Vegas are legal here in Ireland. Im getting married over there myself in 2010 and will only be arranging the legal side of it the day before the wedding. Look up the wedding sites for vegas and it will tell you about the legalities

    How exciting!!!! Congrats

Oh I know that the actual wedding is legal but I am wondering if I have to do anything in Ireland (like apply for something) before I even think about getting married. I heard that I have to apply for "Something" around 3 months in advance of a wedding taking place and that it only came into effect some time this year.. Is this true??

My fiance and I have been engaged for a year and we have never looked into getting married so I dont know all the ins and outs of the process. But we will be in vegas together from tomorrow on and I am curious to see if we can get married on the spur of the moment and for it to be legal at home without this document..

YOu need to apply for a marraige licence in Ireland, 3 months before the marraige date. But that's only a licence to permit you to get married in Ireland. You don't need it if you get married abroad.

No we didnt in the end.

We decided to get married in Italy and bring a few guests with us.

Wont be happening for at least another year!

I loved the idea though, but when I seen the place, MAJOR TACKY but that is what Vegas is all about I suppose!
