Need a cable

So I bought a dell desktop the other day and got a vga to connect it up to my Samsung 26A456 screen. I also got a cable thinking that it would work but doesn't. I want to get the sound out through my telly. I bought a cable that connects into my head phone jack on my desktop and then into the red and white audio on my telly. But that doesn't work. How can I get around this and use my telly for sound too, what cable do I need?

Where did you connect it to your TV? Not to state the obvious, but the red and white phono sockets on their on are usually output, not input. If you wanted to achieve what you've outlined -- and short of acquiring an amp -- I'd be inclined to use a scart adapter (photo to scart). Then switch to AV1, AV2 or whatever to get the audio from your PC.

I don't think that is going to work because when I connect it to the av I won't be able t listen to whatever it is when im looking at the screen for my pc.
