Ive been interested in filipino martial arts for a while now and I would be interested in giving it a try.

Ive come across three places that does it in the city centre:

    http://www.warriorseskrimaireland.com/

    http://www.iewto.org/aboutus.htm

    http://www.wildgeesema.com/index.htm

Now Ill probably try and give each one ago but what Im wondering is does anyone here train at any of these places and what can I expect?

What would be a typical class?

I notice IEWTO is mostly Wing Tsun as well. Dont know much about Wing Tsun so I would be interested to hear what thats like to.

    Thanks.

Some of the Warrior Escrima guys train with me in Atienza Kali also and I know first hand they are a great bunch of guys with a good deal of knowledge on the system.

I also now their instructor and that the system is an excellent one covering all the aspects of Escrima you'd expect and others you wouldn't, give them a shout.

Yeah the Warriors Escrima did catch my eye and the times would suit.

Whats Atienza Kali? So many systems of FMA it gets confusing to an outsider:o

    Hi Babybing,

Atienza Kali is a family based system incorporating the use of bladed weapons, improvised weapons, heavy weapons, projectiles/firearms and empty hand. We also cover team tactics and mass attack.

My instructor Tuhon Carl Atienza and his two brothers started their training under their father at the age of about 5, in Queens, New York. They lived in a dangerous neighbourhood with a lot of violence and intimidation from the Asian gangs in the area. So their father, Edgar Atienza started to teach them Kali to help keep them safe.

That's a very brief summary of what Atienza Kali is about and it's origins. If you've any further questions just let me know I'd be more than happy to answer them for you.
