Which External HDD

    Hi

    Am looking at buying an External hard disk to back up all my files, photos, music etc.

    Am looking at a 500gb min.

    Any suggestions or advice on what to buy or avoid.

    Works fine for home use. There's a bit of a delay like 5 seconds if you are accessing it after 10 minutes or so, like it needs to 'spin up' or wake up.
    Transferring say movie files from your hard disk to the backup drive is not amazingly quick, but it you're using it at home and just for backups then that shouldn't be a huge issue.

    Seems fairly sturdy too, i've kicked mine across the floor by accident a couple of times and no problems.

    Western Digital knows their sh!t. Any extern will have the wake up issue tbh. Better than having them run hot all the time just in case you want to open a JPEG in 17 hours.
