Golf Club Bureaucracy

Right, my club is after introducing webgolf.ie for competition bookings. I was away from a computer in the days leading up to a event and asked my friend to cancel my booking. He thought he did but it turns out he didnt.

As a result I got done for failing to show up to a competition and disqualified for the next two. Ordinarily i wouldn't give a fiddlers. However, I'm in with a shout for Golfer of the year and there the last two competitions of the year. If I placed in both I might be close to winning.

Do I have any recourse. Bear in mind its a new system i think they should be more lenient. I just want to know all the facts before I go about challenging it.

Would anyone have any advice for me?

    Much appreciated!

So, you didn't cancel the booking.

Your friend didn't cancel the booking.

The rules were clearly stated and you knew the rules prior to making the booking.

    Sorry mate, tough luck.

Rules are rules. You need to give your 'friend' a good bollocking.

Agree with slumped. It's not their fault you didn't cancel it properly. They have to have some kind of penalty in place, otherwise there'd be people not showing up every week. I wouldn't bother challenging it to be honest.

edit: In my place you're banned from competitions for a month. So I would consider only being banned for 2 comps pretty lenient as it is.

Seems fair enough to me to be honest. You were lucky you werent fined as well. I think its a great system to stop block booking by the same old crowds every week. My club doesnt have it but I wish it did, imagine being able to play a game of golf between the hours of 12 and 2 on a saturday. oh how i wish....
