After waiting nearly a deacade I finially got the chance to watch Richard Stanley's cult classic Hardware. Having been a fan or Stanley's truly amazing Dust Devil and his various documentaries I came to Hardware with high hopes and absolutly loved it but when discussing it with some friends I realised that everyone I know whom has seen it hates it.

Anyone here seen it and have an opinion of it?

Haven't seen it years either... but remember enjoying a it a lot.

Drove me nuts the first time I saw it as it all seemed very familiar... but then I realised it's based on an old 2000 AD strip that I'd read.

It's a top quality straight-to-DVD effort that did really well in America.

Hoping to get my hands on the DVD but it seems to be quite rare and expensive. Just flicking through parts of it atm and it really is an impressive piece of cinema and does make one wonder just what Stanley would be capeable of given a major budget.

saw it as a kid and saw it on tv again recently...i absolutely hated this movie...terrible acting and script with a story that was ripped off from a comic strip which was never acknowledged until it was forced to be

Its often shown on Zone Horror. I have it recorded and took a look at a bit of it yesterday and was quite impressed. Very 2000AD with synth-milk in the fridge and pure post-apocalyptic red filtered depression, but with quirky characters.

He was given a major budget for Island of Dr Moreau but got sacked.
