Nigerian man to divorce 82 wives

Mr Bello Abubakar challenged Muslim scholars two weeks ago

A Nigerian religious leader with 86 wives has accepted an Islamic decree ordering him to divorce all but four of them, local authorities say.
A spokesman for the emir of Bida told the BBC that Mohammadu Bello Abubakar, 84, agreed on Saturday to comply with the decree.
Last week one of Nigeria's top Islamic bodies, the Jamatu Nasril Islam, sentenced him to death. The sentence was lifted but he was threatened with eviction from his home. Earlier, Mr Abubakar had challenged Islamic scholars, saying there was no punishment stated in the Koran for having more than four wives.

Can you imagine what it would be like to divorce more than one wife!!

With that many wives they can probably treat the divorce case as a class action.

Think about the practicalities of having 86 wives! Listening to each and every one nagging you or blathering on about who they met at the post office today or how they saved money by availing of the 2 for 1 offer on the 1 litre 7-Up bottles rather than buying the usual 2 litre bottle would be head wrecking.

I imagine they'd have to unionise or something. One wife would be designated as the rep with the responsibility of bringing any complaints to the husband. Would there be a rotating schedule of making dinner/love?

*any sexism contained in the above post is purely for the sake of humour and not intended to be serious or offensive in any way. So don't you worry your pretty little head about it :P

I bet he has AIDS. I suppose they'll have to share that between the 80 something of them when they divorce.

Wonder does he know all their names?

Or does he split them into groups: cooking wives, cleaning wives, childbearing wives, sexyhappytime wives, substitute wives incase one of the others croaks.

And does he remember all their birthdays? And anniversaries?

    The mind boggles...

Yeah but most of 'em are probably dead. That's the advantage of living in a country with low life expectancy! :pac:

It cost me ten grand to get married (The first time) sixty grand to get divorced.

as this guy is about to find out, Henry VIII had the right idea.

I can see them making a tv programme about this, where over the course of the weeks he makes them compete to narrow them down to the final four.

Expect it on E4 soon..

I'm sure a guy with 86 wives would have developed a fairly thick skin.

Read that report online a few days ago. He challenged the ruling of the Islamic scholars. He has along with their advice. The Sharia punishments were reintroduced in Niger in 2000.

if there are roughly equal numbers of men and women then weren't there 81 frustrated single men somewhere actually more since that number of men would imply a number of prostitutes, so overall one mans happiness probably means a lot nearly 100 unhappy people, possibly more if you include the knock on effects on the community

I assume his lawyer had a fairly substantial orgasm when he heard about this one.

Divorce is easy for a muslim man, all he needs to do is say "I divorce thee" three times and... job done, he might need some strepsils but that's about it! ;)
