    Hi

having just had my eyes opened with a set of graphite hire clubs (Fazer...which I understand are only budget clubs) I'm about to trade-in my steel Titleists for a set of graphite irons. I have a slow swing...and amazing the extra "zip" the graphite clubs gave me.

Anyway, at a handicap of 18 not the most confident in my own ability to know what's best. Which of the shops would recommend ?...plus I'd need to try. Will also need 1" longer...as my current clubs are. Touchy subject really cos if I try...and make a mess...more likely me than the clubs !!.

    Any steers appreciated.

    Many thanks,
    K.

    Why graphite??

Anyways, McGuirks are your best bet for choice and range.

    Hi Slumped....

I just found the graphite shafts added to my shots....they introduced a zip without me having to try and speed-up. I always had a fear that graphite clubs were like fishing rods...as in bendy...but the regular flex was not too much. Felt really good compared to my steel shafts.

    That's all.....

Premier Golf in Santry has good customer service, trouble is their prices are shocking.

On the other hand, McGuirks in Blanchardstown has appalling customer service but great selection and good prices. Only been in it once, but the service in the McGuirks store in Howth was better.

I usually try things and get advice in Premier and then buy in McGuirks. That way you get the bets of both worlds.

As for graphites, go for it if you like them. I had a set of graphites from a young age and my handicap came from 30 down to 6 with them.

mcguirks in howth is prob your best bet. bigger selection in blanch but not very helpful imo. you wouldnt neccessarily need graphite, look at true temper s website. you could get the gs shafts. light and as flexible as graphite. just so you have more options when buying....

Amercian Golf shop in Tallaght are very helpful. You can try out clubs there. Plus they have technology which will tell you how each club performs.
