In Service?

I'm just wondering, how do I go about going on an In Service course? I've been given SPHE this year and there is an In Service for new SPHE teachers in a few weeks that I'd really like to go on. I got the application form so do I just ask my principal for permission? Are they keen to give teachers the time off? Thanks

Get in quick and ask early.

Depending on local circumstances, it can be a bit of a pain arranging cover, but it's not impossible. Given that you're new to the subject you really should be let go.

The problems arise when lots of people want to go to different inservices on the one day, so get in early and get your name down for 'your' day.
