New UPC ad versus Sky

I almost fell out of the chair when I heard this one....

The latest radio ad from Chorus/NTL says that they offer a new digital starter pack for €20, "including BBC Three and Four, Film4 and Virgin1, a saving of €132 per year versus Sky."

The killer bit at the end "The same channels cost €31.50 on Sky"

Why not save yourself the bother of watching Virgin 1, as well as €50, and get an FTA dish and receiver and watch BBC Three and Four Free?

Who thinks up these ads? Are they still trying to embed the thought that Digital TV must be pay-tv?

    FFS.

Saw that too and wondered why they would list just one pay channel that IMO is not worth 2 cents per month

At least they stopped playing that awful "twenty and four" ad... that just made me hate UPC even more.

As for Virgin1, they show StarTrek DS9, so I watch... Sky One could have.. but they stuck with endless TNG repeats for a few years :/

I'm more of a Dave fan anyway.

Well UPC and Sky are only interested in selling you Pay-TV.

Can you imaging Sky & UPC advertising:
"Get almost all the main UK TV channels and about 20 other decent channels free for a once off payment. Add the four Irish channels with an extra aerial.

No rush to do it today as the set-box will be cheaper soon.

Pay extra and have free 'Pause Live TV' and automatic recording of your favourite programs. Delux versions will record your Digital Camera or do HDTV."

:) needs a bit of work on the dialogue and music.

Some people aren't allowed dishes by their management company

    Is that sky or freesat

  • Its sky.

But I'm sure that something similar could be done with Freesat.
