Perfectly common - I think a poll on After Hours fround an average age of 19. Plenty of time yet. For some its earlier, some later.

Feel just a tiny bit grateful that you might appreciate the event more than a drunken 14 year old might.

yea, i get the feeling that 16 is about average these days, for lads anyway. i can see 18 isnt that late but i think b wrong to assume it wasnt late at all! even lads i wud never have thought had sex seem to have got it!

In today's society I'd find it very uncommon for someone who spells like that to have not lost their virginity by a younger age.

Don't give a fluck what everybody else is doing, you are your own person. Half of them are just bragging and the other half are scumbags.

What are you suggesting, you should have sex with someone so that you should be part of the crowd?

More common than you would think. You can be guaranteed some of the lads who claim to be having sex are bragging just to score brownie points. You'd be amazed the number of threads there's been here of people in their mid to late 20s and even into their thirties still being virgins, so you're far from alone. 18 is young, you've plenty of time yet.

Half of them are just bragging and the other half are scumbags.

Half of them are indeed bragging, though I'm unclear as to why the other half are all scumbags? Perhaps you'd care to elaborate.

I think it would actually put my mind at ease to be part of the crowd to be honest!! I dont have any religious beliefs so its nothing like that stopping me, i think I just need to get some balls and get with someone, i'm missing out bigtime here!!

It'll happen for you in due course, but if you try to force the issue you'll just come across as desperate and that's one to ensure you stay a virgin!

    Stay on topic.

As has been said already, it is way more common than you think. I'm 21 yr old guy, and quite a few of my friends have gone through college and are virgins.
I think you need to relax about it, and stop looking at it as something you ''need'' to do. Everyone is different, and don't let anyone look down on you for being your own person either.
There is nothing wrong with sex, but a casual attitude to sex can be damaging (despite what some people may say). It is better to have a cautious attitude to sex rather than a casual one. That might not be cool to some people, but who cares what they think anyway.

I was 18 when I lost my virginity. It's way, way lower in other countries (13 or 14 in some) and way higher in others. I wouldn't worry about it.

Random lame foreigner fact: average age for Italian men to move out of their parents house is 28. Freaks!

I think it would actually put my mind at ease to be part of the crowd to be honest!!

And therein lies the problem. If "the crowd" were binge-drinking or doing heroin or robbing cars because they were idiotic enough to think that was cool, would you be so anxious to be part of the crowd ?

Do it when it feels right for you. No sooner, no later. And do it with someone decent, not some skanger/slapper just to get it done. It's nowhere near the massive issue it's made out to be, but it's also not right for it to be treated quite as casually / trivially as some people do.

You're still younger than the average age, and that average is skewed by the the lying "braggers", and the idiots who do it and get pregnant age 14, so the "norm" is probably even higher.

As was said above by other posters, fluck the crowd - you've your whole life ahead of you, and you'll probably understand/appreciate/enjoy it more as you get older....

Its fine. Just remember that most people your age are lying their asses off about it. Feel free to lie about it too if you're feeling a little left out.

Watch 40 year old virgin, you'll feel better.

I'd echo the others who say it's far more common than you think and that plenty of people who claim to have started having sex or who "seem" to have started having sex... haven't.

You've no way of knowing people are having sex unless you actually see/hear them. 18's very young yet, don't feel pressured. I felt pressured and got it out of the way because of it. I had also just turned 18. That was 12 years ago and I realise now there was no rush. Of course it's easy for me to have such perspective but no harm in passing it on to you either.

Nothing to worry about - promise! :)

You're only 18 and since you haven't gone and had a one night stand and you haven't been in a relationship where this has been an issue, then naturally enough, you're still a virgin. 18 isn't that old, looooooooads of people your age haven't had proper relationships. Some do choose to have one night stands and that fine but you've obviously been waiting for something else.

For what it's worth, I admire the fact that you've waited. :)

You really have nothing to worry about, just wait 'til you see :)
