Right if you've recovered from the thrill fest that Valuev v Ruiz II is bound to be then later on we get a cracker of a rematch in Puerto Rico.

Ivan Calderon defends his WBO Light-Flyweight title against the man he dispossessed to win it, the big punching Hugo Cazares.
It continues the theme of Mexico v Puerto Rico and these guys couldn't be any different.

Calderon is a slick 5 foot Southpaw who moved up from Minimumweight and even down there he was featherfisted. He could easily make 105 again if he wanted but moved up to 108 for a challenge, and that was where he faced

Hugo Fidel Cazares, 5'5(very tall at that weight), orthodox fighter, huge puncher, who drains himself a huge amount to make Light-Flyweight. I'm guessing he could move up whatever the outcome tonight. Cazares although not lacking in the skills department is much more of a brawler than Calderon, who is a fleet footed counter-puncher.

Cazares did also hold the Ring magazine Light-Flyweight title before losing to Calderon and was considered by most as the division's #1 despite the presence of some pretty decent fighter.

The first fight was a split decision won by Calderon, a result most thought was fair as he took most of the early rounds by outboxing Cazares simply enough. Cazares eventually got going and hurt, and then floored Calderon as it looked as if the fight was about to be turned around. Cazares faded down the stretch though and shockingly Calderon managed to hurt Cazares at one point.

The size difference between these guys is huge, they really are 2 division(at least) apart in actual size, and I think it's possible when Cazares does move up to Flyweight that he mightn't be there for long before moving up again.

The first fight was a real good one, and this should be too. Calderon is beuatiful to watch at his best, he's a fantastic fighter from a technical and skilled stand point and if he was in a bigger weight class he'd be adored by most. Cazares always brings excitement and will be dangerous for 12 rounds whether he's winning them or not.

I think Cazares gets the stoppage here with Calderon leading on the cards, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong. The only thing that would shock me is a Calderon stoppage.

The undercard features Featherweight prospect Roman Martinez aswell as the comebacking Eric Morel in a very interesting bout with Heriberto Ruiz at Bantamweight. The winner of that fight could find themself in an eliminator if not a straight shot for Gerry Penalosa's WBO title.
