Help: Chorus on a 2nd TV

I want to run my chorus digital to a second tv. It connects to the first TV via a scart lead so there is a vacant RF out on the back of the chorus box. I read i should be able to pick up the basic analogue channels if I ran a lead from this to the second TV but I'm only picking up sky 1, BBC 1 and BBC 2.

    Can anyone help me out???

You should be able to pick up all the analogue channels, have you tried to tune them into the tv that has the didgibox connected to it? it may be just your tv.

I'm having the same problem with the 2nd tv with chorus mmds in laois.
I[m using the fplug connection instead of the spare scart outlet though.
the box is a chorus sagem itd 4400.
we have a aerial on the roof which connects to the wall in the main room.
this connects to a adapter to boost the signal from the aerial which in turn connects to the chorus box to the tv via scart.
when i connect the fplug from the box on the output connection to the 2nd tv and tune in the channels,
I only get bbc2, tv3 and mtv.all the rest have some sort of interference on them.
any ideas on how to get the rest of the analogue channels to tune in.
i know i could get a long scart lead and try that but i've tried a fplug to coaxial connection to the 2nd tv and also a splitter from the adapter but the same reception every time.
have they done something with these boxes or am i doing something wrong?
very annoyed and couldn't be bothered paying extra for a second outlet from chorus at €10 each month.

Analogue MMDS is usually encrypted, you will not be able to watch channels on your second TV without a box.

Also, Chorus are supposedly shutting analogue MMDS off fairly soon, so, you'll need digital set top boxes fairly soon anyway.

    If there's an RF-out on the back, it's just a pass-through like a VCR.

In the old days when TVs didn't always have scart sockets, the box simply took the feed from your RTE/TV3/TG4 antenna and injected the output from the decoder on a free channel then that was fed into your TV.

This meant you'd have RTE 1, 2, TV3, TG4 and Chorus Box output on different channels on your TV.

hi solair, thanks for a quick reply.

if i was to get a booster would that help me get the analogue stations on the 2nd tv?

i've noticed the signal strenght drops 50% when going out from the box.

if i was to connect this to the external adapter before it reaches the chorus box and relay the second cable from this with a booster would that work?

Only for the channels that are being provided by your own antenna i.e RTE 1, 2, TV3 and TG4.

The reason you can't see the chorus channels is that they're encrypted/scrambled, they're not suffering from interference. That's quite deliberate so that you cannot watch without paying. Otherwise, people could just put up MMDS antennae and watch the service without ever subscribing which wouldn't be much of a viable business model for pay tv!

To watch the channels you need to get a second chorus box (descrambler).

if i was to get the box -t to descramble the stations on chorus mmds could i then relay a second connection from this decoder?

If you get a second box from UPC they will do all the wiring for you. It is not legal for you to use equipment of your own.

    do you have a ps3 or xbox360?

if you do, you can stream internet tv using tversity as your name implies from the pc through the xbox360 as a media player to the second tv.

tv applications you can use are playon and viewmy.tv

both are very good and are legal to use and you get all stations you wouldn't get on chorus because they are scrambled.

If you're getting anything from Chorus unscrambled without using their equipment you're breaking the law.

However downloading and streaming (not using Chorus) would be legal.

    get your answer right.

    you must be a woman.

    typical wrong answer.

i suggested getting a scrambler but don't have one so that isn't illegal.
i also said using internet tv through the xbox360 which is legit.

get your facts right and reply not half a day later!

    Well I've reported that post.

Now, you've mentioned several illegal things, your terminology is wrong and you're writing style, grammar and spelling are bad. It's quite hard to follow what you're actually saying so I did my best to let you know that anything from Chorus not using their equipment is theft. I was also trying to help you. In fact, what I have written is correct.

Complete stupidity. Don't waste peoples time with ideas like that when they want TV.

YouTube quality video is not TV. less than 5% of people have internet good enough for decent IPTV.

Also there is NO legitimate source for the regular pay channels channels and most of the FTA on Satellite channels other than Satellite for Free To Air..

Only if the sources are legitimate, though that is civil law (copyright), not criminal law (Theft of Service = illegal unscrambling).

At actual Watch TV quality, live, I doubt any of the channels are available legitimately. Also as mentioned only a tiny few people have the speed and fewer the cap for real TV via IP.

Soon there will be no channels without decoders on cable. Talk to your cable provider about additional set-boxes. It's much cheaper than Sky Pay TV, though dearer than free to air satellite TV.

You could use a SCART to RF adaptor or a video sender to see same channel on box in both rooms.
