I wonder can someone suggest a dublin bus journey?
    Scenario:
Starting point is Rathgar Rd (mid way along the road)
Destination is Goatstown Rd (northern part of it, near Roebuck Rd)

Ideally walking east to Ranelagh road and catching the 11,11a or i think the 116.
However walking from Rathgar Rd to Ranelagh Rd could take 25 minutes, so we'd like to try to get something closer.

Would there be a bus that goes East-West, along Terenure Rd/Highfield Rd that could put us along Dundrum Rd heading south?
Maybe we could then get out and walk thru Windy Arbour to get over to Goatstown Rd?

Other than walking to Ranelagh for an 11/11A, you could take the 14 south to Churchtown (getting off before the Bottle Tower pub, just at the Supervalu shops), and then walking to the next stop on Churchtown Road Upper (outside the demolished Texaco station) and taking a 17 to the junction of Roebuck Road and Goatstown Road.

    In judging bus times:
    1) Allow about 15-20 minutes for the 14 to get to Rathgar Road in the morning, and 10-15 minutes to get to Churchtown.

    2) The 17 should take 25-30 minutes to get from Rialto to Churchtown, and then 10-15 minutes to get to Clonskeagh.

In the opposite direction, allow 20 minutes or so for the 17 to get to Roebuck Road from Blackrock and 15 minutes for the 14 to get to Churchtown from Dundrum.

Travel 90 tickets would be your best bet for this.

Personally I'd walk or cycle the entire journey. It's 4km, about 40 mins walk and no worrying about heavy traffic or missing buses. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2218728
