I have done both the Total Immersion freestyle workshop (2 days) and also the Refresher course (1 day) 2 years later.

The length of the course is fine at 2 days, and is made up of something like 2 x 1.5 hour sessions in the pool each day, and a similar amount of time in the classroom.

It is expensive, but I think it was worth the money (for me at least). A lot depends on what you hope to get out of it. I am a very slow swimmer (about 36 mins for 1500m) and before I did the course and learned to swim the TI way, I used to thrash up and down the pool 3 or 4 times a week, getting nowhere for a lot of energy expenditure. 2 years after changing how I swim, my times are still about the same for 1500m, but the big difference is how effortlessly I now achieve the same result. I swim a lot more relaxed, and my heart rate is so low that, exiting the water in a race, I am completely fresh starting the bike leg. Also, I now only swim maybe twice a week, and about 50% of that is spent doing drills. One of the big things about Total Immersion (or any efficient swim technique) is the effortless way you move through the water.

The only standard they require is that you can swim a couple of continuous lengths. If you can swim at all, you'll be fine!

They hold their courses in Newpark school, which is not too far from Leopardstown.

If you have any further questions, just ask.
