Hey does anyone have a lens baby?
    Is it worth getting?
I saw a few pics taken with one, looks like you could have fun using one :)

It's excellent toy. I loved that, although you should use only when you know that you would like to get that effect. It's like fish-eye. you have to get sober soon to find out when it really works and when it is only using the lens that makes pictures look different.

    Hi everyone,

    Thanks for all the comments:)

    Hi phototoxin,
I came across it today as I was googling some new lens to get.
    It's a selective focus lens.

    As quoted from lensbaby.com

'Lensbaby™ SLR lenses bring one area of your photo into sharp focus, with that Sweet Spot™ surrounded by gradually increasing blur. You can move the Sweet Spot to any part of your photo by bending the lens'

    Some info: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0503/05032201lensbaby_2.0.asp

Found some snaps taken too http://www.pbase.com/dlmorel/lensbaby_shots

I'm no expert but looking at those photos i would imagine you could get the same effect using photoshop?

No. Because having lensbaby on the camera, you are creating the image with your eyes-mind-hands. And the the whole approach makes the photography quite different.
You could be able to achieve similar effect by post processing, however that would be creating "something" from "nothing". Please, don't take me wrong, I have nothing against processing and I am trying to learn that. But having the lensbaby on the camera makes huge difference.

Very cool!!! Never heard of a lensbaby before but they look cool!!! Sorta similar to Tilt Shift lenses!!! Their my favourite!!! They make everything look so miniature!!!

Anyhow thanks for letting me know about this!!! Awesome!!! :D

A bit fecking expensive aren't they?

Anyways, picasa does the same thing for free.

Comparing them to photoshop or picasso defeats the purpose. You can fake depth of field in both too :p

But seriously, there's a big difference between taking a photo and adjusting it in photoshop/picasso and using a Lensbaby, time wise. You've got a very vibrant single element, so lots of saturation, then add in your selective gaussian, lens and movement blur, distortion, selective distortion fixing, and selective sharpening!

It's a different process of taking a photo from your normal lens. Give one a go, and you'll see the difference. Oh, and I only paid 170 quid for the 3G model - They can be gotten for cheaper than you'll see when you first go looking :)
