Recommendations required for holiday with girlfriend

Okay myself and the girlfriend are looking to get away but we've never been on hols this late in the year so looking for some help/experience/recommendations..

The week in question is the last week in October.
We're looking for somewhere sunny/warm. Budget is about €800 each.

After some research here were some options and their possible arguments...

    Egypt/Tunisia/Morocco
Is this a place you would bring your girlfriend? I heard some pretty bad stories regarding the treatment of female tourists here and I don't want to take any chances. Guaranteed great weather.

    Canaries
Will it be sunny enough? Averages 24-26c in october. Is it too risky to hope we'll get some good weather? I was in Fuerteventura last year so count that one out :)

Anyone with experiences in these place at that time of year or any other suggestions? All help is much appreciated. :)

Can't go wrong with Lanzarote, had a great clear week in November last year and it was a good atmosphere,as in the place wasn't dead.I think the advantage with the Canaries at this time of the year is that all the other resorts in Europe close down while the Canaries will always have a good amount of tourists.Restaurants were fairly full at this time of the year, probably cos the food was amazing, but there were no queues out the door.

Are you looking to party or just chill out?

We're def looking to chill out. What temp did you get when you were over there?

November we got about 24/25, so we didn't get too tired with the heat, and it stayed pleasent at night. We got self-catering accom in the old town which was perfect for us - lastminute and that were just too expensive at the time. The good restaurants beside the marina were five minute walk and if we wanted to go somewhere livelier then we could either walk to the new town, but got a taxt for a couple of euro instead :D.

Rent a car aswell and go around the island, really interesting stuff, different from a normal package holiday we found

Oh, and just noticed your into the photography, an absolute feeding ground for getting some good shots, was kicking myself that I didn't bring the slr.

Personally I wouldn't go back to Tunisia.

Lanzarote sounds ideal for that time of year.

King nothing - have you booked yet?

I'm thinking of Marbella myself for a week at the end of October but not sure if the weather will be good enough. Was in Lanzarote about three years ago & whilst it is nice it got a bit boring during the two weeks..

Paddylonglegs-where was it that you were staying? Would you recommend any areas of the island in particular, seeing as you got to drive around a bit?

Myself and himself want to get away around the 2nd week of October and Lanzarote is sounding ideal... we just want to chill out in the sun in a nice clean, safe place with good food and something to do aside from just sitting by a pool. Tunisia and Morocco seem nice and warm around then, and can be very cheap, but I've seen some iffy reports on here!
Lanzarote or Fuertaventura sound like a safer bet!

Does anyone know of a good place to find cheap last minute deals to the Canaries? I've been looking on Sunway, Lastminute, Latedeals etc but they all seem pretty dear for the period we've been looking at. Is that a particularly expensive time to travel to the Canaries or is it just because it's still 3-4 weeks off and prices will drop closer to departure?

    Many thanks for any advice!

    Hi Marianne,

I think there is a mid term break coming up soon so that might bump up the price. Also this time of the year and the winter in general is popular time to travel to the Canaries as the rest of resorts in Europe are pretty much closed down.

We stayed in the Old Town of Puerto Del Carmen in a one bedroom self-catering apartment. Was perfect for the two of us.We got the number off a friend who had stayed there before, found it alot more personal dealing with the actual owner and booking our own flights.

We did travel around the island but we really found that PdC was the best place on the island as the restaurants really compete in terms of quality of food and price too.Had some some amazing meals for half the price we would at home and could have a drink somewhere close after that was either lively or relaxed.During the day then we could either do the beach or pool,or have some adventures around the island looking at some really incredible landscapes.

think your always better to book flights well in advance to get the good deals though, but keep checking Aer Lingus site for deals

I have indeed booked. It was for the mid-term break week.
It's costing us €840 overall (each), I will be staying in Costa Teguise in a lovely
place. Cant wait. Fairly expensive but at that week everywhere was expensive.
