Hi, heading to Siciliy next month for a week and looking into renting an apartment direct from the owner. He's asked for a deposit which is fair enough, just wondering which option is the safest though, bank transfer or paypal?

He seems a friendly enough guy, and the deposit isn't a massive amount (€90). He has suggested that as it's such a small amount paypal would be easier, I would have thought a bank transfer would be better for him though as he wouldn't have to pay Paypal fees that way no?

Probably being paranoid but would seem a nice little sting as because it's not a big amount most people would just pay through paypal. Just don't like the idea of transfering money based on an email address and then to arrive and find no apartment!

Any thoughts, is it the norm when renting privately to pay deposits through Paypal?
