Have been hitting the gym hard over the past 2 months after a long absence. go 4 times a week, 60-90 minute cardio a day followed by strength which lasts about 45-60 mins. I lost 1/2 stone in my first 2 weeks. Now I have only lost a further 4 lbs, my diet has not changed drastically porridge for breakfast, sandwich luch, dinner - meat/fish with veg. (occasional treat also)My clothes do feel looser and I know muscle weighs more than fat but am I right to be thinking that i should have lost more than 11lbs in 2 months?!

    thanks

I've recently started back training too "journey back to my old self" and i've been doing alot of online research and while i'm no expert here's what i'm expecting to happen for me

the first few punds will come off really easly, but once you build up the weigths your lifting the rest will slowy come off and stay off. reason for this muscle burns 50 calores per lb while fat burns something like 9 calories per lb. (eg see michael phelps' diet) so keep building the weights without increasing the calorie intake and the rest will come off.

How much moredo you want to loose - what was your start point.

I started at 16 and have lost 7lbs in first 2 weeks but i'm only expecting to loose one per week from now on and maybe not every week.

maybe the experts will agree/disagre with me

Started at 11st 7lbs now 10st 10. Would like to get down to 9, (I'm 5'7"). I'm just finding it so irritating, not seeing the differences and I weighed myself at the gym today and I've put on weight even though I've been working my ass off! Would like to get down to my goal weight by christmas but the way things are going it doesnt look likely!

If your clothes are looser then you are heading in the right direction regardless of what the weighing scales says.

At 5 foot 7 your target weight of 9 stone (63kg) seems to me to be stick insect like. I'm the same height and 74kg. Are you an endurance athlete?

I started off at 75kg about 18months ago, dropped to a tad under 70kg by running and ad-hoc gym. Now I'm back up to 74kg. The weight I've put on has been muscle from concentrating on a proper weights program including the likes of squat, deadlift, pull ups, barbell rows, bench and shoulder pressing. My waist is smaller and everything is firm now as opposed to "loose" before.

You should take measurements of your waist, hips, chest, upper arm, wrist, calves, etc and track the changes here instead of just looking at the weighing scales. Good luck.
