    I joined a gym at the weekend and the instructor has given me a programme to follow. My body fat percentage is 39% so I'm doing the programme for a month and then checking the percentage again. Hopefully I'll see a difference!

    The programme consists of 30 mins on the treadmill and 15 mins on the crosstrainer, ensuring I'm working at between 60% and 85% of my maximum heart rate. I have to do 4 different weight machines for my upper body. I have to do this 3 times a week and any classes or swimming I do outside of this is a bonus.

    What are people's opinions on this? I really want to tone up and lose weight at the same time.

    Pretty much your average instructors routine.

    Post up your diet, including eating times if you can. Be totally honest with yourself, include all snacks etc. Diet will play a massive part.

    sounds ideal alright, cardio for burning the fat off and machines to tone up and do the same too, the fork is your ultimate weapon here(your diet)

    did he mention that to you?

    He didn't mention diet at all to me. I'm following the Weight Watchers plan at the moment. I'm not attending meetings, just doing it myself because I was a member before so have all the books. Is this a good or bad idea? My typical day would be;

    Breakfast: Porridge made with skimmed milk.
    Elevenses: 2 ryvita with low low cheese triangle and cup of tea with one sugar.
    Lunch: Either pasta salad made with low fat mayo, or mixed salad, or more ryvita.
    Dinner: Mostly chicken, sometimes lean mince, with pasta/noodles/potatoes, veg.

    I sometimes through in a piece of fruit thoughout the day but not every day.

    Looking at those foods written down has made me realise how boring my diet is! What should/shouldn't I be eating?
