You can add your bank account now on an Irish account, however methinks you can only verify an Irish account with a credit card. Don't take my word for that though! :D Added my bank account a few weeks back anyway.

    Thats correct.
You can verify your PayPal account with 3v. a prepaid credit card. very handy.

alot of other countries have visa debit cards (UK&US&australia) and PP accepts the visa processor.
    out of date ireland !

do halifax ireland give visa electron ? hmmm.

Just opened an account with that wirecard and you need a visa or master card to fill it, laser card wont cut it.
might still be good though as an extra protection online.

Just checked my card for you - it only says Visa on it but it's most definitely a debit card not a credit card. And works fine with Paypal!

    Hi herya
What is the story with getting a visa debit card. Do you have to give them details of income from a few months back

Halifax Ireland do NOT issue Visa Electron, they give you a Visa Debit card which is not the same thing at all.

Visa Electron allows you to book flights with ryanair with no card charges
    Not available in Ireland though.

OK sorry - Visa debit then! Jack for me it was simply a matter of opening a current account with them, they only wanted to see the proof that I am employed and I think PPS.

It's rubbish. They accept Maestro as in a UK debit card.

    Utter rubbish, crap .

    /rant

the cool thing about UK banks is that the debit card has Visa instead of/as well as laser, or maestro.
so you cna use the visa side of things to make transactions online where they take visa.

I know, it's a shame we can't have such fancy things. It pisses me off sometimes something rotten.

look,,,, guys and gals its very very simple, all you need to do is walk into any Halifax bank in Ireland and ask to open a current acount.

All you need to do this is 2 forms of ID ,,,gas bill,,,,elec bill etc and some form of photo ID ,,,passport,,,etc.

You will be given once your account is open a VISA DEBIT CARD which is accepted by all online shops including mine and although it works like a Visa credit card the best news is you WLL NOT get a bill at the end of the month.

When you spend with a VISA DEBIT CARD its like you are spending cash, as you spend the money is taken from your bank account same day,,,when you run out of bank account funds the VISA DEBIT CARD stops working untill you put more money in the bank .

    regards and happy shopping
