We should get a boards hiphop group going and head to these gigs. I usually go to the acts I like on me own, none of my mates listen to good hiphop.

Saying that, Im Tech is overrated as ****, I only ever enjoyed Dance with the Devil and a few other punchline tunes he done, lot of conspiracy theory bull**** spray all over with a dodgey flow... still might go along though!

Anyone from Cork fancy travelling for this? Are there ticks still available? I'd hardly be able to get em on the door?

Interesting idea. Get that lazy bastard Makeveli on it. ;)

But yeah, I've got no love for Immortal Technique. His newest is particurly tedious.

I thought Techniques last album was quite good, the one thing that fecks it up tho in some of the songs is Green Lanterns beats which destroys some of the songs. Lyrically i thought it was very good. And as for people going to gigs on there own, just go on your own and say you'll all meet at the left hand side of the stage :D Went to Pharoah Monche on my own, great crack! (mate pulled out last minute:rolleyes:)

Does anyone know if Akir is travelling with Technique on this tour? Not on the posters but know his last tour he did was the 2 of them

Just back from this and it was fcukin brilliant. Technique was class and Diabolic and Dj GI Joe who were with him were very good. Really impressed by Gi Joe, some great stuff on the decks. Wasn't very impressed by Infomatics tho, music was ok but couldn't make out much of the lyrics

    +1
What a show.It was definitley worth the 20 euro and more.I can't praise those guys enough right now.Absolutely phenomenal!!The crowd was brilliant aswell.
Technique's words on women really struck me

Hey, Just came across this forum by chance . Support was pretty poor I thought, I couldn`t make out a word the Infomatics said! As for GI Joe, he got the crowd bouncing within five minutes of coming on stage.. Technique was excellent, pure raw talent with a clear message. Government = conspiracy (thats if you go for all that!). He said he`ll be back for "middle passage" and hopefully he will. He`s what hip hop is all about.
Also, with reference to Ghostface ste`s comment earlyer, I did see a couple of guys on their own at the left hand side of the stage. Was that anyone of this forum? Good luck.

    Top class gig!

Infomatiks- Music sounded good, seemed heavy Cypress Hill influenced, not a bad thing but sound levels were all wrong! Couldnt make out a word!

DJ G.I. Joe- Rocked the place! Got the crowd going within a couple of minutes, and it really got going!

Diabolic- Very good, sang the Illuminati freestyle near the start and some stuff from his mixtape

Immortal Technique- Had Diabolic up on stage with him, class show. Talked a nice amount, obviously about real ****, lisbon treaty references

Back for the Middle Passage! :D:D:D

Viva la Revolucíon! Viva la Revolucíon! Viva la Revolucíon!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,960 ✭✭✭DarkJager

Can't believe I missed this, sounds like it was wicked. What wise words did I.M have to say about the lisbon treaty? :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 870 ✭✭✭Pen1987

Jayzuz, Im Tech commenting on the Lisbon Treaty... like The Game or Jay-Z wearing a Celtic/Ireland jersey on stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 717 ✭✭✭ghostface ste

He also had some interesting stuff to say about the british in Northern Ireland, i was wondering would he be repeating that in Belfast last night ;) Also had a great line about Heather McCartney robbing Pauls money, very funny.

Viva la Revolucíon! Viva la Revolucíon! Viva la Revolucíon!

After that at the end i'm pretty sure he had the crowd ready to go kill some people :D

Or Snoop wearing a Dub jersey as i heard he did

I cant remember exactly what he said about Lisbon, he was talking about fake democracys and how they ask you a question and if they dont like the answer they just do it again.

'Y'all should know how that feels in this country', something to that extent.

It was just like saying 'of course I know what happened with Lisbon, I'm the Immortal Technique!"

Oh, for all those that missed out he said he'll be back after the Middle Passage comes out, and Dublin was in his top 3 favourite from this tour :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 717 ✭✭✭ghostface ste

Also, what was the story with the group of lads, from Cork i think and a couple of them had bandanas on covering their faces during the gig. WTF!!!!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 153 ✭✭Smudgeyboy

    Seen them! Haha!

Most likely anti new world order soldiers, more power to them!

That freestyle is on youtube. That line got one of the biggest roars of the night. Can't wait to see him back to be honest

Oh jesus no not those cunts again, red bandanas? Was one of them a stumpy little white fella who spoke with the most ridiculously put-on Brooklyn accent and gangster slang?... I met these a few times, sad fu<kers. I even heard one threaten to "FU<K up a muthafu<ka!" If I ever spoke the same way to him... comedy.

Hah... what a populist bastard, making no comment on Lisbon or how to react just saying 'look I know what I'm talking about because, well, I'm talking about it' and nothing else. Typical of the muppet.

I dont know a rapper that doesnt say 'I love dublin', I'd reckon they say it after every gig no matter the location. The best one ever was El-p though... "Dublin is KICKING man, definitely my favorite place in the UK!"

Ah they've changed gangs rocking the white bandanas now but your description seems acurate!!

I remember El-P doing that alright, if i recall right it got a bit tense for a few mins! ha ha

You dont seem to have any time for Immortal at all? Do you feel like he is putting on an act or something? Have to say i only heard of him a couple of years ago over in amsterdam in the hostel i was in ans since then have been a big fan, have always thought his lyrics are some of the best i've heard if he does overdo it sometimes with really obscure historical references which i think is just to try and point out to people that he knows of crap like that. Anyway his gig was class is all i can say, i'm not too concerned if he is a 'revolutionary'

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 153 ✭✭Smudgeyboy

His point in putting in the historical references is so you go look it up!

Funny, he's taught me an awful lot by me just looking into what he's been saying. It lead me on to Shamanism and how it's the foundation of everything really.

My friend went up to him and asked him if he knew about this and he said he's just starting to look into it, so maybe we'll see him getting all hippy and tripped out!!

i have to say i think i set my heights too high for this gig i wasn't as overwhelmed as i thought i would be but i wasn't disappointed either, tech was on point new exactly when to stop talking and had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

I couldnt help but feel that talk of overthrowing governments and starting revolutions, life on the streets of harlem etc were lost on the good 40/50% of the crowd who were south county dublin born and raised! :D

I was disappointed with diabolic,i have been a fan for a long time but he didnt cut it live for me,GI joe was just the same ol same ol new york DJ nonsense cut up the start of a song like its 1996 and then drop the song, repeat for next song i got bored pretty quick.

The infomatics and DJ mayhem were spot on in support.

Can south county dublin born and raised people not do any of that,or am i missing something? You don't have to be from the streets of harlem to start revolutions or overthrow corrupt governments...

the sound for the opening acts was poor yes,i don't think that sound guy had a clue as ive been in that club before and the sound was spot on,in fact he was so bad at managing the mix that he decided to turn everything down a little for immortal technique,it was the first gig ive ever been at where the sound for the main act was lower than the support, its normally the opposite with a little kept in reserve for the main act!

Diabolic seems to be a bit of a one trick pony IMO from what i've heard of him, would much have preferred if Akir was still touring with Technique but sure can't have it all.

Yoda, Scroobius Pip and Dan le Sac up next..... should be good
