girl drives me insane with jealousy

went out with a girl there for a few months, it was weird cos although she wasn't like my ideal girlfriend there was just something about her that I couldn't put my finger on. we where mad about each other but unfortunetly we also managed to wreck each others heads with jealousy. in all honesty looking back it was the stupidest things to get jealous about but every issue just seemed to just explode and magnify.
anyways we inevitably split and stopped talking cos we where just killing each other and i didnt hear from her for a bit.
then we got back friends and now the minute were around each other for any longer then an hour we start flirting and talking about how much we miss each other. this has already once led to us sleeping together.
I'm really mad about her but she drives me insane but theres just something about her that I can't stay away from.

    any advice?

That something is the contents of her pants. You can dress it up anyway you like, but with all the other madness between the pair of you, that's what it boils down to. If you don't believe me then ask yourself, would you take or give that same amount of crapola to a female mate you didn't fancy? The answer would be no I warrant. You can dig a deep grave with your willy. If you don't have a relationship based on companionship, mutual likes, mutual goals and plain simply liking each other, all the horniness in the world won't save it or turn a sows ear into a silk purse.

    Me I'd walk away.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Damn, he's good:)

Op - I was in a similar situation with a guy that dragged on for nearly two years. There was 'something' about him I couldn't resist. I wanted to sh*g him, that's what that special something was. Nothing more. It doesn't sound like you're very compatible so it's probably in your best interest to walk away.

jealousy abounds when the major factor in the relationship is sex. Since you have nothing else to work on you both always just assume the other is off getting their sex from someone else.

This is your pure animal instinct acting at its most primal.

This woman makes you horny, you make her horny.

Your body and your primal mind is then urging you to inpregnate her and fend off all competitors until she's had your children.

Stay away from her and life will be much easier.

Why not just accept that it's not relationship material and enjoy the physical side of things for a while?

Me and ex realised this and just became friends with benefits for a while. That said, sometimes it works, sometimes it goes horribly wrong.

The only way to stop this "animal instinct" (if you want to stop) is to get out there and probably do it with another girl, you may surprise yourself the new one may make the old one fade into the abyss....but yea the other answerers are right, this is just shagging, you 2 dont have a relationship. Try one with another girl though, you might like the real thing.

Jealousy is not the basis of a relationship and if that's all that brings you back into one or a quick shag then you're selling yourself short on finding one that means something more to you and selling her short too. It's about wanting to be with someone because you do NOT because someone else does. Big difference!

you see the thing is neither of us have any problem getting sex and I've slept with women since her . also as I said shes not exactly my type, pyshically. I know the obvious answer is sex but theres something more to this one, like I've been in relationships that where purely sex based before. while I'm not denying that the urge to sleep with her is a factor theres just something more niggling away at me beneath the surface, I guess the problem is I'm afraid to go back to her because I think I actually have very strong feelings for this girl and I know she has them for me too but we can't stop fighting over stupid little things, most of which was us afraid anyone would take the other one away.
it's the most stupid reasons to be fighting, just stupid teenage sounding crap that I can't believe I'm bogged down with again.

I still call horniness on this one. IMHO that niggle you feel is a mixture of a small amount of can't have her on the one hand and on the other a physical response to her deep down. For me you comment that she's not really your type physically is the bit that says that to me funny enough. The strong feelings can only be based on two things really; sexual attraction and imagined potential in her. As a couple there are all the other things that a healthy couple should have, so we're left with those two pretty much.

Wibbs is so spot on here that it's not funny. The physical part of your relationship is dominating any cautious part of your brain.

Don't mistake tension and friction for sexual attraction.
