PC to Mac data transfer

After a lot of procrastination I have finally got an external hard drive to transfer all my media files (movies, mp3 etc) from my old PC to my new MacBook. I've got the Western Digital MyBook 2 Home edition external HD and I'm wondering is it simply a case of plug HD into PC, copy files onto HD, plug into MacBook, copy files to MacBook? Or is there more to this that I'm missing?

    Any help appreciated

Nope, what you said should work provided that the HD is formatted in Fat32 and that you have no files exceeding 4GB in size.

That shouldn't be an issue unless you have High Def content or something on your HD.

You only need fat32 if you decide to write files from the mac to the pc formatted external HD. You could also plug both of them into your router (mac annd pc) go to the sharing pane in your system prefs on the mac, turn on windows file sharing and throw em over the network. Have Time Machine format the external as a backup device and you're set.
