    Hi All.

Not really sure if this belongs here or in athletics, I am new to the running / fitness lifestyle.......

I've recently started to go running/walking, I had hoped to do more, but as we all know the summer has been gash.

Anyway, I'm based out North County Dublin, Portmarnock, Malahide, Howth area....I have been running, then walking, then running etc up around Howth Head, doing a bit of "off the beaten track" kinda stuff. I enjoy the workout and the view, etc etc.

Can anyone tell me if there is a club based in Dublin for amateurs and part timers. Or if there are any good tracks north or south side where you can put yourself through the paces without killing yourself (literally).

    All responses appreciated.

Clonliffe Harriers or Raheny Shamrocks are your best bet

I think there's a list of clubs as a sticky on the athletics forum. An athletics club sounds ideal for you, hill running might also be an option - someone who knows more might be able to give you information on this, I think one of the websites is www.imra.ie the irish mountain running association, they do a few races around your training areas I think.

    Oldscoil,

I would reccommed the IMRA also but from now till after Christmass is usually quite. There is however some talk of a trail league in Oct/Nov but nothing yet confirmed.

You could also check out www.BHAA.ie for their calender of races. They cater for all standards and the races are relatively small but are very enjoyable and friendly. The Cross country season kicks off in late October.
