i have conflicting views on this.

    1) it could all be in the mind, especially if you are feeling anyway under pressure

    2) my wife, a few years ago in our house, experienced much the same thing - and she swears it certainly was not her mind playing tricks. she heard her name called in succession and she was wide awake but there was no-one else in the house (i was gigging) and it was about 2 in the morning as she was reading a book. we never found out what the story was.

In both cases was it said 3 times with the last time being a bit louder?

I'm not sure anyone else can give you much help here... We would only be speculating as to the source of the voice. The "meaning", if you think there is one, is one that you will have to decide on for yourself.

No just once, and very clear. I knew straight away it was her voice.

Well then why not try set yourself down in the same place when its quiet and talk to them? For my own interest if I was you I would record it.

I will, and thanks for your advice.
The funny thing about the voice is I cant rember her voice now as hard as I try,but at the time I knew itwas her.

thats exactly what my wife said - her name was called three times and the last time was louder that than others.

is this a known phenomena like a mind thing or something?

Its something I've been coming across for years and 9 times out of 10 when someone hears their name called its in this format. I've considered some sort of time delay which causes the ghost to get frustrated ... but who knows? :D

I've gotten that before too. Usually when I'm in bed but not yet asleep or like you, just reading a book. it's as clear as day - so clear that for a second you turn toward the source of it as if to reply before you realise that there's no one there.

No idea what it's from but it seems kind of common.

If it gives you comfort to think that maybe your mum is looking out for you at a stressful time in your life, then I would go with that explanation and I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Holly, if it's of help, I've had exactly the same experience repeated until the penny dropped - it was real and was confirmed later by a medium who knew neither of us.

We are attuned to physical vibration, your mum is beyond the physical, so please give thought and appreciation for the great effort that had to be made in doing this.

Of the explanations available keep them all as possible, but unproven.

Ask your Mum to try to confirm in whatever way she can, that she is still alive and can try to assist you in times of difficulty. Be patient, it is when the mind is quier that it can register best.

I was told awhile ago that hearing a familiar voice calling you could be a sign that your brain needs sleep but I think it only refers to living persons who may not be present.

Granted, never heard an explanation for the call being made three times.
