Golfing Las Vegas

    Hey,

Heading to America with the girlfriend in 2 weeks and were stopping off in vegas for 4 days.

where meeting her sister and her brother in law over there and we have managed to convince my girlfriend and her sister to go shopping one morning and me and her brother in law are going to sneak out for a game of golf.

Just wondering has anyone played in Vegas before? Will the weather be too unbareable?

I remember playing in Florida in September one year and we started at like 8 in the morning so was not bad to play except for the last hour.

Just wondering do you think if your not used to that kind of weather, that it might take it out of you?

Just were planning on playing on one of the first days we get there and don't fancy burning ourselves out too much for the rest of our stay.

anyone played there before? If so any courses aswell to recommend would be great

    Thanks in advance
    Michael

I'm just back from California and it was about 30 deg C. I wouldn't like to play golf in that heat even though it wasn't that hot. Las Vegas could be even warmer and can be around 40 deg C.

Make sure you have lots of sun cream, a hat and plenty to drink.

    Thanks for the tips guys,

I will hope to get out as soon as it starts getting bright to be honest. yeh will drink lots and make sure I am covered in sun cream or hat etc.

I am hoping that because its so warm over there, that I will be able to get cheap but good rain gear for back home.

that said, because it's so warm most of them time, they probably don't feel the need to stock them. I am sure I will get some in San Fran if need be

Since its the desert, its simply dead heat out there. You dont sweat as much as you would in California but it still takes its toll; you need to keep sipping the fluids and keep sun cream applied throughout the day.

As for the golf in Vegas, most central one is the Wynn course on the main strip although, if i recall, this is reserved for people staying at the Wynn hotel and still costs $500 for a round on what is a pretty average course. There's another course behind the Mandalay Bay further down the strip that was due to open when I was there. Think it's supposed to be cheaper as well and its public, I think.

Last time I was in Las Vegas, it rained

You'd be lucky to find rain gear, I could hardly find a sweater, Its just not (mostly) needed in that location

Playing Golf, yea thats a good one.

Get yourself a fist full of dollars and head to Spearament Rhino. Ding Dang Do ... Now thats what I call a hole in one.

No seiously, if you do play, I'd like a trip report, Have been lots of times but never managed to pull myself away from the tables to hit a ball.

Hey OP, I played in Vegas a few years ago and it wasn't too bad...but I had to start very early to avoid the heat. We were using buggies as well so it wasn't too bad. I can't remember the name of the course I played but it was really nice.

There is a course called Shadow Creek that is meant to be one of the best in the US, but i'd say you would have to pay alot to play it and you might need reservations, as alot of courses over there don't seem to allow walk-in green fees.

Don't forget to bring loads of water with you as well as the sun cream. Some insect repellent would go along way as well.

If you don't get to play golf, have a blast there anyway. It is the maddest city I have ever been in. Words can't explain it!
