courses in the north east

    looking to join a club in the north east at a reasonable cost.
    mannan castle seems resonable anyone any opinions on this course

    Only played it once. It's not a bad course at all. Seems to be very well maintained.
    Greenore is a nice course. Spectacular setting too.

    have to agree greenore is a testing but beautiful course think theres a waiting list and has a substantial joining fee

    I think Mannan Castle in Carrickmacross are open at the moment with no joining fee. Short track and too many par 3s but difficult enough due to tighness and some decent design.

    I used to be a member and enjoyed playing there, members are very nice. It is a tight course but I found that it improved my game. They brought on a consultant a year or two ago to help with the course maintenance and since then I think they put in 3 or 4 new greens. Not sure how the drainage is holding up in this weather, but if you are close to it then it is definitely worth a visit to check it out.
