Am going on active holiday - help needed!

Am looking for advice from anyone out there who has recently started to exercise/get healthy/lose weight.
I will be going on hols in 2 weeks time and as part of the holiday I am planning on doing quite a bit of trekking, hill climbing, cycling etc. Now I realise I have left it a bit late, to say the least, but is it possible to improve fitness level in a couple of weeks?
Am also determined now to change my unhealthy habits (of not exercising at all, eating what I know are the wrong types of foods e.g. chocolate, ice cream, pastries) so am not looking for a quick fix, just want to be able to join in activities on the hols, and then continue on my crusade for fitness (with a goal of getting in shape by Christmas).
Motivation has always been a problem for me (I thought booking the holiday would help, but as it has gotten closer and closer I have done nothing except feel defeated- without even getting up off my ever-increasing butt.) I am about 2 - 3 stone over weight.
(Can't believe I am posting in a fitness thread! - please be kind.):o
