Hopefully my confusing thread title has lured you in, oblivious to the fact that this is another "whats the best guitar for €xxx thread. Mwa ha ha ha.:pac:

I've been meaning to buy a new acoustic now for ages. Nothing big, just something to have lying around the house for bashing out new tracks and stuff, nothing for the studio or anything high end. Since I'm off to the 'merica next week I've been looking at a few guitars around the $400-$500 range. So far I've narrowed it down to

    Seagull s6
    Gretsch G5030/32/35
    Fender CD220CE
    Takamine G360S G
    Taylor Big Baby
    Martin DXM
    Martin DXK2 Koa

Anyone played any of the above? Any you would recommend/avoid? I'm particularly interested in the Gretsch & the Big Baby.

I dont know much about acoustics, but just to point out, that if you rest the mouse over the thread title, a message box appears with the top line, where you admit what kind of thread this is... So much for luring us in:P:P

I've a Martin DX1 that I can't recommend highly enough. I found it plays better than some of the 2.5k Martins I've played. I think its a bit more expensive than the DXM, but if its anything to go by the DXM should be great.

I've actually given in at this stage and its now between the DX1 and the Taylor 214. It will all come down to how they play obviously but the I reckon it's gonna be the 214. I'm suddenly very excited about my trip to the US :D
