I don't use this forum too often as boxing isn't my game, and indeed I hate listening to someone like me who knows little about it comment on a bout.

Anyway, just wanted to say you all brought me a lot of entertainment, and brought me right up to speed with boxing over the last few weeks.

You must all be absolutely over the moon with your lads in Beijing, well done to you all.

I'm delighted for you all that your sport done so well.

I'd like to echo those comments.
Its been great to see the boxers do so well and Egan was unlucky this morning not to get at least a few more points.
Tis great to see them do us proud. Roll on 2012.

Yes indeed, let me add my tuppence with the congratulation message.

Well done to the 5 lads, they all did us proud. Paddy, Darren and Kenny did wonderful with bringing home the medals - congrats

Well done to the high performance guys all the coaches and the many many guys in the background whos hard work has paid off

Well done to RTE for the coverage, I know we've all debated the highs and lows of the pundits but job well done overall both here and Beijing. Glad to see boxing getting the coverage it deserves

And of course well done to all us boardsies as the OP said for all the entertainment over the past 2 and a half weeks. Again a few fiery "debates" but it's all healthy banter

    Congratulations to all involved

I agree with the OP I found this forum helpful. I prefer amateur boxing over professional boxing so I wont pop in here as often as I did the past 2 weeks.
Thank you all, the moderators are quite helpful and efficient too.

The European Championships are coming up in November and there is always Junior/Senior internationals on, feel free to discuss them if you want. There are a few guys here who have fought at a very high level as amateurs in this country who would only be happy to discuss amateur boxing and considering the Olympic success I'd say many more aswell.

Sure, why not. Hopefully Kenny stays amateur for London and takes home gold. He would be Irelands greatest olympian ever as well as boxing great.

Maybe we should invest more in the boxing and stop send horses to Olympic Games. We would have sent a few more boxers for the price of one drug horse
