There should be another round of CAO offers later in the week. If I think of it I will update it then.

The vacant / available places list might be useful as you can apply for these even if you are not a CAO applicant this year, might be useful if thinking of returning to college. Also some great courses in available / vacant places, as there are for other institutes, colleges and universities.

Also if you are over 23 on January 1st, you can apply for any of the vacant / available places, and if you don't have the points requirements, you will be assessed by a interview.

Just out of interest. Is that january 1st 2008 or 2009?

1st January 2008, i.e. you have to be at least 23 years, 9 Months and 2 weeks. (Approx) when you start college.

Also worth a mention is that for some courses IT Sligo consider an E in Honours Mathematics as meeting the Mathematics requirements. They also may consider Foundation Mathematics a B or A grade as meeting the requirements.

If you are in this category, it is worth ringing the college 071 91 55222 and speaking to the admissions staff to confirm which courses are applicable. As you may be accepted on one of the vacant / available places if you did not get your initial choices because of a E grade in Honours Mathematics.

    Excerpt from the prospectus.

    Ireland
    Higher Certificate (L6) / Ordinary Degree (L7)
The normal minimum entry requirements for Higher
Certificate and Ordinary Degree Courses are:
5 grade Ds in Leaving Certificate (O level) including
English or Irish and Mathematics. An E in (H Level)
Mathematics is also accepted, as is a B2 or higher in
Foundation Maths. The School of Engineering does not
accept Foundation Maths for any of their courses.

A minimum of 140 points is required for all Ordinary Ab
Initio Degree programes. There are certain exceptions
such as where a language is required. Where this is the
case, precise entry requirements are given in the next
    section.

    Honour Degree Courses (L8)
Six subjects in the Leaving Certificate at a minimum level
of Grade D3, two of which must be on higher level
papers, Grade C3 or better. English or Irish, and
    Mathematics must be included.
A minimum of 140 points is required for all Honours
Degree programes. An E in (H Level) Mathematics is
accepted for the entry requirement except for the new 4-
year Honours Degree in Civil Engineering which requires
a C3 in Higher Level Mathematics.
For the purpose of calculating points, all subjects must be
obtained at one sitting. However, for the purpose of
meeting the entry requirements, more than one sitting
    may be considered.

    Britain and Northern Ireland
The normal minimum entry requirements are 2 A-levels at
Grade D or better and 4 GCSEs to gain entry to an
Honours Degree course or a minimum of 1 A-level at
Grade E or better and 4 GCSEs to gain entry to Higher
    Certificate/Ordinary Degree courses. There are
exceptions where, for example, a language may be
required and these are detailed under Specific Entry
    Requirements.
For points purposes, the best 3 A levels and the best 2 O
levels are taken into account, all of which must be in one
sitting, i.e. the A levels in one exam and the O levels in
    another.
Any queries to Admissions Office on 071-9155379 or fax
    071 9160475 or email admissions@itsligo.ie

Note: The above are the minimum entry requirements.
In practice, the entry requirements (Points) are
considerably above these levels and are determined by
demand and numbers of places available.

if you satisfy the minimum requirements shouldn't you just get the place?

i thought it was first come first served as long as you qualify

maybe when they have dealt with the second round offers they start offering the vacant places
